Quartet SaxEst was founded in 1999. The members of the Quartet SaxEst are: Ivo Lille – soprano saxophone, Virgo Veldi – alto saxophone, Lauri Sepp – tenor saxophone and Sulev Sommer – baritone saxophone. Quartet SaxEst's repertoire consists of various music - transcriptions from the Baroque and Classical era, original works from different world composers, Estonian and world contemporary music, also jazz and soul music. Estonian composers, like Tõnu Kõrvits, Galina Grigorjeva, Ester Mägi, Kristjan Kõrver have a special place in Quartet SaxEst's repertoire. SaxEst has released two CD-s: in 2003 the classical music CD “Collocutio” and in 2009 the Christmas music CD “ My Gift to You” with James Werts, who is a singer and bass player. Quartet SaxEst has performed together with many different soloists - Irina Zahharenkova (piano), Ulla Krigul (organ), Virgo Sillamaa(guitar), Madis Kari (clarinet), Siim Aimla (saxophone), Yaroslava Kozina(vocal), James Werts(vocal) and Meribel Müürsepp (vocal). Quartet SaxEst has performed all over Estonia with great success for full audiences. They have participated in many music festivals - Tallinn Chamber Music Festival, Estonian Music Days, Tallinn Music Week, Nargen Festival etc. In January 2010 Quartet SaxEst performed at the International Music Festival “Czech Touches of Music” in Prague, Chech Republic. This season the quartet will also perform at different music festivals in Romania, Great Britain and USA.
